This , we Stood Firmly with Science, Not Industry Misinformation!

The evidence is clear: e-cigarettes are not harmless, and delaying regulation puts young people at grave risk.

When the to***co industry says “the science isn’t there,” what they really mean is: regulation threatens profits. We refuse to gamble with our generation’s health.

The To***co Control Bill NEEDS to be passed! Young people DESERVE to be protected! The science EXISTS!

World TB Day 2026: Yes! We Can End TB

South Africa continues to carry one of the highest TB burdens globally - with an estimated 249,000 people falling ill and over 54,000 lives lost in 2024 alone.

While progress is being made, too many people are still missed, undiagnosed, or left behind.

Through the National TB Recovery Plan, South Africa is accelerating testing, prevention, and treatment to close these gaps and get back on track to end TB.

But we cannot ignore one of the biggest risk factors: to***co use. Smoking damages the lungs, weakens immunity, and significantly increases the risk of TB infection, severe disease, and death.

Ending TB means addressing all its drivers.

This World TB Day, we reflect: are we doing enough to protect our communities, especially young people, from both TB and to***co?

The right to health is a human right. Protecting people - especially the youth, from to***co and ni****ne harm is not optional, it’s essential and urgent. It’s time to put people before profit.

This World AIDS Day, we honour progress, remember lives lost, and recommit to protecting health for all. To***co and ni****ne use remain major drivers of illness for people living with HIV, increasing risks of infections, cardiovascular disease, and early mortality.

As we work toward an AIDS-free future, we must also confront the industries that profit from products that harm our communities.

Stronger to***co control laws, including South Africa’s To***co Control Bill, are essential to safeguarding vulnerable populations and advancing public health equity.

As enters its final stretch, young people from around the world are marking a powerful moment - 20 years of the WHO FCTC, a instrumental treaty that continues to guide global action for a healthier, to***co-free future.

Today was especially inspiring, we had the opportunity to meet the President of COP11, Dr. Reina Roa, reaffirming that our voices belong not on the sidelines, but at the centre of to***co control conversations. This gathering was more than symbolic; it reflected a growing recognition that young people are essential partners in shaping stronger policies, closing loopholes, and holding the industry accountable.

As we look toward the outcomes of COP11, we carry a renewed sense of responsibility and hope. The next 20 years of the FCTC must be bold, inclusive, and unshakable, and young people are ready to help lead the way.
