Dear Craighall Family,
It is with the heaviest and most heartbroken of hearts that I share news that no school ever wishes to deliver. Our beautiful Linah, one of our brave and beloved Grade 7 girls, has passed away after fighting an enormous and courageous battle against brain cancer since the middle of this year.
Linah faced every part of this journey with a strength far beyond her years, a quiet determination, and a spirit that touched each person who walked beside her. She was deeply loved by her classmates, her teachers, and every staff member who had the privilege of knowing her. Losing a child is something no family, no community, and no school is ever ready for, and today our hearts break together.
In this time of sorrow, I want to assure our families and children that we are here. As a school, we will be offering support and counselling to any chidren who may need help processing this loss. Please reach out, no child should carry this alone, and neither should any parent.
We will also be reaching out to Linah’s family to support them in every way we can, holding them close in thought and care during this devastating time.
Craighall will honour Linah’s life with a memorial service at school. Details will be shared with you shortly. For now, may we surround one another with gentleness. May we stand together as the community we have always been , one that holds, cares, and carries one another through the darkest moments.
May Linah’s bright spirit rest peacefully, and may we keep her family wrapped in strength and love.
