THE CONGRESS OF SOUTH AFRICAN STUDENTS WELCOMES THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ANC'S CONFERENCE RESOLUTION AROUND THE STEPPING ASIDE OF MEMBERS CHARGED WITH SERIOUS CRIMES.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
05 MAY 2021
The Congress of South African Students welcomes the decision of the ANC to suspend members charged with serious crimes as per resolution of its National Congress.
COSAS welcomes this decision provided its political relationship with the ANC. COSAS is an organisation within the MDM of the ANC which champions the interests of all learners in the country and also mobilises learners behind the banner of the ANC.
The learners we continue to mobilise to be voters of the ANC have always maintained that they will vote for the ANC only if the ANC does away with corruption, hence the welcoming of these developments by the NEC of the ANC.
Our learners despair corruption and dishonesty by leaders of the ANC.
Most recently, the ANC has suspended its Secretary General Comrade Ace Magashule for being charged with serious crimes, that we welcome.
In relation to the Suspended Secretary General of COSAS Comrade Tebogo Magafane, we have received and honoured his expulsion appeal and final dates for him to appear before the NDC shall be communicated in due time.
COSAS is also disturbed by the usage of fraudulent ID documents in order to be part of the ANC NYTT. Transparency should be maintained at all material times.
We are committed to building a strong PYA and a strong ANC which will remain the only instrument of liberating society.
END.
