The Child Protection Hotline has been inundated with calls and messages, from concerned parents with regards to the continued mandating of face masks for children attending school.

While some parents quote science and links on the ineffectiveness of face masks, we will remain focused on children and the effect on them. Our personal opinions cannot overshadow the work we have been trusted with.

We have discussed a letter to the Department of Basic Education with our partner attorneys, Hills Incorporated.

We cannot quote from all messages and phone calls, it will fill a book.

“My child does not want to attend school, she cannot breathe with a mask on.”
“My children are not able to read basic emotional signs.”
“At our school, children participate in the life orientation classes with masks on. It is summer and often over 30 degrees. This is child abuse.”
“The teachers at our school do not wear their masks and get very “power happy and like bullies” when they force our children in to wearing their masks. Every attempt for fresh air gets them in trouble.”
“My child refuses to participate in after school activities because of the compulsory mask wearing.”
“We cannot afford a new mask for every school day. None of the parents can.”
"I can see the damage done to my child by these masks."

The list never stops.
