KZNERA ELMS Online Portal Roadshow a Success in eThekwini

The KwaZulu-Natal Economic Regulatory Authority (KZNERA) continued its drive towards digital transformation with an Electronic Licensing Management System (ELMS) Online Portal Roadshow held at the Durban Music School. The roadshow provided liquor licence holders with an opportunity to receive hands-on assistance with registering on the new ELMS portal and linking their liquor licences to access online renewal services.

The eThekwini District was an important stop in the roadshow programme, given its significant concentration of liquor licence holders. KZNERA’s decision to bring the ELMS registration process directly to stakeholders helped make the transition to digital licensing more accessible, particularly for licence holders who may require assistance navigating the new system.

The engagement was well received, with stakeholders gaining a better understanding of how to create their ELMS profiles, link their licences and prepare for online licence renewals. The ELMS platform is designed to provide a more convenient, paperless and accessible way for licence holders to manage their licensing processes. (elmsportal.kznera.org.za⁠)

The success of the Durban Music School roadshow demonstrates the value of direct stakeholder engagement, especially in eThekwini, where reaching a large number of licence holders is critical to ensuring a smooth transition to digital licensing. 🚨KZNERA CRACKS DOWN ON ILLEGAL LIQUOR & GAMBLING🚨

KZNERA, together with law enforcement partners, conducted compliance operations in Mariannhill, Babanango and Emanguzi, targeting illegal liquor trading and unlawful gambling activities.

The operations resulted in:
R325 401,01 worth of illicit alcohol seized
11 illegal gambling machines confiscated
R16 008,00 in cash linked to unlawful gambling confiscated
3 non-compliance notices issued
1 fraudulent gambling licence uncovered

KZNERA remains committed to protecting the public and ensuring that liquor licence holders, liquor traders, gambling operators and other regulated businesses operate legally and responsibly across KwaZulu-Natal.

KZNERA ELMS Roadshow Reaches Umlazi W Hall

The KwaZulu-Natal Economic Regulatory Authority (KZNERA) successfully hosted its Electronic Liquor Management System (ELMS) Roadshow at Umlazi W Hall in the eThekwini District.

The roadshow provided liquor licence holders with an opportunity to receive hands-on assistance with registering on the new ELMS online portal, linking their licences and gaining a better understanding of the digital system. The event was well received, with strong participation from licence holders and members of the community.

KZNERA extends its sincere thanks to the Chairperson of the Sisonke Association, Dr Mncadi, for his support and contribution to the success of the roadshow.

The success of the Umlazi W Hall activation forms part of KZNERA’s ongoing commitment to making its services more accessible and supporting liquor licence holders through the transition to digital services.

The ELMS Roadshow will continue across the Durban/eThekwini District, with KZNERA taking the campaign to other venues to reach more licence holders and ensure that stakeholders receive the necessary support to register and use the new system.

KZNERA Supports Women’s Race at Newcastle Annual Spring Horse Race 2026

The KwaZulu-Natal Economic Authority (KZNERA), in partnership with the Newcastle Municipality, participated in the Newcastle Annual Spring Horse Race 2026, held at the Drycut Open Field in Newcastle.

As part of its commitment to supporting meaningful community initiatives, KZNERA contributed R15,000 towards the event, specifically supporting the Women’s Race. The sponsorship was aimed at creating opportunities for women to participate, be recognised and celebrated, while encouraging greater involvement in community and sporting initiatives.

The event highlighted the importance of creating platforms where women can connect, participate and showcase their talents.

KZNERA’s contribution not only provided financial support towards the successful hosting of the Women’s Race, but also reinforced the Authority’s commitment to initiatives that promote social and economic development, women’s empowerment and community participation across KwaZulu-Natal.

The roadshow provided an opportunity for liquor licence holders to receive hands-on assistance with registering on the ELMS portal, linking their licences and gaining a better understanding of the digital services available to them. The initiative forms part of KZNERA’s commitment to making liquor licensing services more accessible, efficient and convenient for stakeholders.

The event was further strengthened by the participation of key stakeholders, including the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), EDTEA and South Coast Paradise of the Kingdom, who joined the roadshow to provide information and create awareness about their respective services and programmes.

The Ugu District roadshow was a great success, with positive engagement from liquor licence holders and members of the community. The strong participation demonstrated the importance of taking services directly to stakeholders and providing practical support as KZNERA continues to transition towards digital liquor licensing services.
