UPDATE: WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION DUE TO EMERGENCY REPAIRS ON WIGGINS HIGH PRESSURE MAIN
The City's technical team from Water Operations continues with emergency repairs on the 750mm diameter steel Wiggins High Pressure Supply Main.
During the repair process, the team identified additional leaks requiring urgent attention.
Repairs to two of the newly discovered leaks are expected to be completed by this evening, Wednesday, 5 August.
Thereafter, work will continue the remaining major leak, with repairs expected to be completed on Thursday, 6 August.
Further isolations of the water network were necessary to enable repairs to commence, resulting in water supply interruptions to additional reservoirs.
This includes South Ridge, Cato Manor and Ridge View Reservoirs.
Reservoir storage levels and water demand continue to be closely monitored throughout the repair process.
To preserve available storage and support system recovery once repairs are completed, water supply outlets may be temporarily shut.
Depending on reservoir storage volumes, water may be supplied during peak demand periods.
The repair operation remains complex due to difficult terrain and challenging site access, requiring additional time to safely complete the work.
Water tankers will continue to be deployed, where possible, to provide temporary relief to affected communities while repairs are underway.
Areas affected:
*Woodlands 1 and 2 Reservoirs: Austerville, Clairwood, Mobeni, Montclair, Sea View, Wentworth, Woodlands and Yellowwood Park.
*Bluff 1, 2, 3 and Bluff South Reservoirs: Austerville, Bayhead, Brighton Beach, Cave Rock, Fynnlands, Grosvenor, Jacobs, Merewent, Ocean View, Stanvac, Treasure Beach and Wentworth.
*Lamont Reservoir: Havenside, Joe Slovo, Lamont, Mobeni and Mobeni Heights.
*South Ridge Reservoir: Bulwer, Glenwood and Westridge.
*Cator Manor Reservoir: Carrington Heights, Glenmore, Glenwood,Sea View,
