FIBRE BREAK IDENTIFIED AS ROOT CAUSE OF EXTERNAL PREPAID ELECTRICITY VENDING CHALLENGE

A fibre break has been identified as the root cause of the technical challenge currently affecting the external prepaid electricity vending system. Tracing and locating the exact fault took considerable time; however, teams have now commenced repair work, with restoration of the vending service anticipated later tonight.

To accommodate customers who need to purchase prepaid electricity tokens, Electricity Customer Service and Sizakala Centres will continue operating until 7pm.

Customers are encouraged to make use of these centres to purchase their prepaid electricity tokens. These facilities take cash-only transactions.

The City urges customers to remain calm and assures them that the restoration of the system remains a priority. The Municipality appreciates customers’ patience and understanding as teams continue working to resolve the technical challenge and restore normal prepaid electricity vending.
