FAULT RESTORATION AND TRACKING

Residents please note that electricity fault restoration times are dependent on the nature and severity of the fault, as well as the number of faults currently affecting the network.

The municipality advises that it strives, on average, to restore faults within 2–24 hours. However, major faults such as cable repairs or transformer replacements can take longer than 24 hours.

Restoration times may also be extended by adverse weather, difficult working conditions, restricted access to infrastructure and other factors.

The 2–24 hour period is therefore a guideline and not a guaranteed restoration time.

On 9 August 2026, South Africa will mark the 70th anniversary of the of the 1956 Women’s March. On that day, more than 20 000 women marched to the Union Buildings to protest the extension of Pass Laws and the Urban Areas Act. The commemoration will be held under the theme: “Empowered Women Empower The Nation” and will be used to pay tribute to the women of 1956 who fought for human rights, gender equality and social justice.
