MAN DIES IN M4 HEAD ON COLLISION
20/10/2020

Shortly after 23:00 Life Response paramedics were dispatched to a serious head on collision on the M4 North bound just opposite Pick and Pay hyper.

When paramedics arrived on scene they found that two vehicles collided head on, both drivers where severely entrapped and Ethekweni fire department used the jaws of life to free the men from the wreckage.

The white BMW appeared to have been traveling contraflow on the North bound where it collided with a white Ford ranger.

Sadly the 25 year old male driver of the BMW was declared deceased on scene, the 41 year old male from the Ford sustained serious injuries and was stabilize on scene by Life Response advanced life support paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital.

The exact cause of the collision is unknown at this stage, Durban North SAPS was on scene and will be investigating the cause of the collision.

TWO CHILDREN AND TWO ADULTS DIE IN DWELLING FIRE
11/10/2020

Life Response paramedics were dispatched to a dwelling fire with people trapped inside in the Newlands West area shortly after 04:30.

When Life Response paramedics arrived on scene they found that Ethekweni fire department had already extinguished the fire.

Sadly the fire claimed the life of a two year old boy, a five year old girl, a 24 year old female and a 38 year old male.
SAPS search and rescue and SAPS K9 search and rescue were called out to recover the burnt bodies from the dwelling.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, SAPS were on scene and will be investigating the cause of the fire.

FIVE INJURED IN RETIREMENT VILLAGE FIRE
10/10/2020

Shortly after 16:30 Life Response paramedics were dispatched to Prince street in Durban central for a structural.

On arrival they found Ethekweni fire department, SAPS search and rescue and Metro police search and rescue on scene.

A flat on the 2nd floor was alright and Ethekweni fire department was busy extinguishing the fire.

Two males and three females from the 2nd floor were rescued from the building and were treated on scene for burns and smoke inhalation before being transported to various hospitals in the area.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and will be investigated.

THREE MEN DIE IN SUNDAY MORNING ACCIDENT

Life Response paramedics were dispatched to a serious collision on Old North coast road just before the R102

On arrival paramedics found two vehicles that collided leaving three males all in their ealy 20's seriously entrapped in the one vehicle, the three males all passed away prior to the arrival of paramedics due to the serious nature of their injuries.

Three occupants from the other vehicle sustained moderate injuries and were treated on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital.

Ethekweni fire department used the jaws of life to free the three males from the wreckage.

At this stage it is unclear what causes the collision, Metro police and SAPS were on scene and will be investigating the cause of the collision.

TRUCK DRIVER DIES IN FREAK ACCIDENT

Life Response paramedics were dispatched to a accident at the intersection of East road and Stapleton road in the Pinetown area.

The truck collided with four vehicles in the intersection, the driver of the truck got out of his truck and was speaking to metro police when he got back in and tried to reverse his truck, he jumped out of his truck and the truck gained momentum going down Stapleton road pushing the cars with it, the truck drive attempted to stop the truck and when doing so fell out and hit his head on the road. The truck went down a embankment and into a residential property causing severe damage to the property and two vehicles inside the property.

The truck driver a 50 year old male passed away while his truck was out of control. The truck driver was not injured by the runaway truck.
Life Response paramedics attended to the truck driver, and attempted to resuscitate the driver, but sadly he passed away.

Fortunately no one else was injured in the initial accident or when the truck went down the embankment.

It is unclear at this stage what causes the collision or caused the truck to loose control. SAPS and metro police were on scene and will be investigating the cause of the collision.

MAN DIES AFTER CAR ACCIDENT ON THE N2
26/09/2020

Shortly after 16:20 Life Response paramedics were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on the N2 Northbound under the M41 bridge.

On arrival paramedics found a single vehicle that lost control and collided with the bridge, the driver of the vehicle got out after the accident and was knocked by a passing vehicle.

Paramedics found that due to the serious nature of his injuries he passed away prior to their arrival, the passenger sustained moderate injuries and was treated on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage, SAPS, Metro police and RTI was on scene and will be investigating the cause of the accident.

MAN DIES IN HEAD ON COLLISION

Life Response paramedics were dispatched to a serious collision on Sibisi road in the Hammersdale area just after 22:20.

On arrival paramedics found that a taxi had collided head on with a Mercedes and then hit into another vehicle.

Life Response paramedics called for Ethekweni fire department as the driver of the Mercedes was entrapped in the wreckage.
The jaws of life were used to free the male, sadly due to the nature of his injuries he passed away on scene.
Five other patients were treated for moderate injuries and were then transported to a nearby hospital.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage, SAP were on scene and will be investigating the cause of the accident.

TWO DIE IN EARLY MORNING CRASH
25/09/2020

Shortly after 04:30 Life Response paramedics were dispatched to the intersection of West street and Broad street in Durban central for a serious accident.

On arrival paramedics found that two vehicles collided in the intersection leaving three people severely entrapped in the wreckage and five others injured.

Advanced life support paramedics from Life Response ambulance service were called to assist with the critically injured as well as Ethekweni fire department, the jaws of life was used to free the three entrapped patients from the wreckage. Sadly due to the nature of their injuries the two male passengers passed away on the scene and the male driver was transported to hospital. Five of the occupants from the second vehicles sustained moderate injuries and were treated on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage, SAPS collision unit was on scene and will be investigating the cause of the accident.

SERIOUS ACCIDENT TAKES THE LIFE OF A PEDESTRIAN

Life Response paramedics were called out to the intersection of Sydenham hill road and Essenwood road for a three vehicle accident.

On arrival paramedics found that three vehicles collided and the one vehicle veered to the side and hit into a pedestrian.

Three patients sustained moderate injuries and sadly the pedestrian passed away prior to the arrival of paramedics.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage, SAPS are on scene and will be investigating the cause of the accident.
