FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TO: The Student Community of the University of Fort Hare
FROM: PASMA UFH East London Campus
SUBJECT: PASMA UFH EL DEMANDS TRANSPARENCY AND JUSTICE ON EXAM SCRIPT ALLEGATIONS
DATE: 05 June 2026
Militant Greetings to the sons and daughters of Azania.
The Pan Africanist Student Movement of Azania (PASMA) UFH East London Campus is deeply disturbed by the allegations that students have been involved in marking the examination scripts of their peers. Such practices, if true, are a betrayal of academic integrity and a direct insult to the sacrifices students make in pursuit of education.
PASMA views this matter not simply as administrative negligence, but as a dangerous precedent that undermines the credibility of qualifications earned at this institution. Examinations are meant to be assessed by qualified academics, not fellow students who lack the mandate, expertise, and impartiality required to safeguard fairness.
We remind the University of Fort Hare that its legacy is built on struggle, excellence, and the production of leaders who have shaped the destiny of our people. To compromise assessment processes is to compromise that legacy.
PASMA demands:
An immediate and independent investigation into these allegations;
A transparent report to the student body detailing the findings;
Accountability from all staff implicated in authorizing or enabling this practice;
The remarking of any affected scripts by qualified personnel;
Concrete measures to prevent such irregularities from recurring.
Students must never be left in doubt about the legitimacy of their results. The value of a Fort Hare qualification must remain beyond question.
PASMA will continue to monitor this matter closely and will not hesitate to intensify action should management fail to provide clarity and justice.
Students deserve transparency. Students deserve fairness. Students deserve academic integrity.
