UPDATE: POWER RESTORED AT NAHOON WTW - PUMPING RESUMED

Dear Stakeholders,

Further to previous notices regarding the Eskom power outage affecting the Nahoon Water Treatment Works:

1. Power Restoration: Eskom power supply to Nahoon WTW was restored last night, 15 June 2026. The plant is fully energised and operating.

2. Pumping Operations: Pumping from Nahoon WTW resumed last night following power restoration and has been running continuously since then to rebuild reservoir levels.

Amatola Water will continue monitoring plant performance and reservoir recovery. Further updates will be issued if there are any changes.

HAPPENING NOW | ELDERLY PERSONS HONOURED | ANNUAL WEAAD |

In commemoration of World Elderly Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) Buffalo City Metro together Social Development today honoured the elderly at the Ku-Gompo City Hall.

Commemoration WEAAD is a critical service
needed to protect the elderly and prevent their abuse by societies they live in. This day is commemorated annually on 15 June to raise awareness, abuse ,neglect,exploitation and violation of the rights of older persons.

This initiative is emanating from escalating cases of the elderly that are abused in Ku-Gompo area.

UPDATE: ESKOM OUTAGE IMPACTING NAHOON WTW

Dear Stakeholders,

Further to our notice issued on 13 June 2026, regarding the Eskom power outage affecting the Nahoon Water Treatment Works:

*1. Eskom Power:* Power supply is still off at Nahoon WTW. Restoration expected for yesterday did not materialise. Due to weather delays, Eskom is still attending to the fault and a revised restoration time has not been provided.

*2. Site Access:* Bush clearing at Nahoon Dam was completed yesterday, 13 June 2026. However, weather conditions continues to impact progress due to wet and slippery terrain.

Amatola Water is monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as new information is received from Eskom.

EXCHANGE PROGRAM TO SEND YOUTHS TO CHINA | HOMESTAY | YOUTH MONTH

As we embrace the vibrant spirit of the youth month, we are reminded that it is a special month in South Africa โ€“ a month for celebrating the incredible potential, resilience, and voices of our youth.

In commemoration of Youth Month, BCMM Executive Mayor Cllr Princess announced candidates that will travel to City of Jinhua on a youth exchange from 18 to 25 June 2026.

The Jinhua Homestay Programme is far more than an overseas visit. It is an opportunity for young people to become ambassadors of our city and our country.

Through living with host families, interacting with students from different backgrounds, and experiencing Chinese culture firsthand, participants gain valuable knowledge, broaden their perspectives and develop the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
