The Ngquza Hill Massacre was sparked by local resistance to oppressive “betterment schemes” imposed by authorities.
Let us honour the bravery of those who stood firm against injustice during the Mpondo Revolt.

DID YOU KNOW?

The Ngquza Hill Massacre was sparked by local resistance to oppressive “betterment schemes” imposed by authorities. These policies sought to control African rural life by limiting cattle ownership, enforcing forced resettlements, and regulating land use through stock control, rotational grazing, and fenced grazing areas.

Communities resisted not just for land, but for dignity, identity, and survival.

Let us honour the bravery of those who stood firm against injustice during the Mpondo Revolt.
