[IN PHOTOS] The Gert Sibande District Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr Walter Mngomezulu hosted District Ingoma today at Ekupakameni Grounds in Dundonald, Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality .

Despite the misty weather, the community came out in numbers to celebrate culture, tradition and unity. The event provided a vibrant platform to showcase and preserve Mpumalanga’s rich cultural heritage through traditional dance and music.

[IN PHOTOS]: Friday, 03 September 2026, The Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) Acting Executive Mayor, MMC for Corporate Services, Cllr Flora Maboa-Boltman, led the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) consultative meeting held in Leandra, Govan Mbeki Municipality .

The IDP is a strategic planning process that enables the municipality to identify the key developmental needs and priorities of communities and guide the allocation of resources towards addressing these needs. It also provides an important platform for residents and stakeholders to participate in shaping the municipality’s plans and service delivery priorities.

As part of the current analysis phase of the GSDM IDP process, stakeholders were given an opportunity to share their experiences, highlight existing conditions within their communities, and identify pressing developmental challenges. The information gathered through these consultations will assist the municipality in establishing realistic priorities and developing responsive plans that address the needs of communities across the district.

GSDM WARNS THE PUBLIC AGAINST ANOTHER REPORTED SCAM AND FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY.

Ermelo, Mpumalanga – 5 September 2026.

The Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) wishes to alert members of the public and service providers, about yet another incident of fraud and impersonation involving individuals falsely claiming to be the District Executive Mayor in written messages.

Reports have been received of scammers contacting individuals and requesting payments in exchange for a promise of a reward in business. These fraudulent communications may appear legitimate and may include official-looking documents, contact details, or messages; however, they are not authorised by GSDM.

The municipality wishes to state unequivocally that GSDM does not send individuals to request or accept any form of payment for the awarding of tenders or any business-related rewards.

Members of the public are strongly urged to remain vigilant and to avoid engaging with or making any payments to individuals claiming to be from or represent GSDM outside of official channels. Any request for payment in relation to tenders should be treated as a scam, regardless of how convincing it may appear.

The district municipality further encourages anyone who has been approached, targeted, or defrauded through such schemes to report the matter immediately to the South African Police Service (SAPS) and to notify the Municipality through its official communication channels for awareness purposes.

GSDM remains committed to ethical governance, transparency, and the protection of communities from criminal activities. ~ENDS ~

[IN PHOTOS]: Today, 04 September, Briefing Session: Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) Executive Mayor, Cllr Walter Mngomezulu and Inkhosi PR Nkosi hosted a Men's Dialogue at the Ebutsini Royal Kraaal at Kromdraai in the Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality.
The "No Holds Barred" Men's Dialogues form part of the District Municipality's build-up campaigns to the official launch of the 16-Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children, which is an annual international campaign that runs from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to 10 December (International Human Rights Day).
