PLANNED WATER OUTAGE NOTICE

01 June 2026 [17:59] Msukaligwa Local Municipality would like to inform residents that the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS), through the Usutu River Government Water Scheme, will continue with repair testing of electrical infrastructure at Jericho and leak detection activities on its raw water pipeline on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

To safely undertake these maintenance activities, DWS will temporarily shut down the raw water supply to the Municipality.

Outage Period:
Date: Tuesday, 2 June 2026
Time: 08:00 – 18:00

Residents are advised that the Southern Water Treatment Works (SWTW) receives its raw water supply from Jericho Dam and will therefore be affected by this planned interruption.

Areas Likely to be Affected

- Nederland Park
- De Bruin Park
- John Vorster Park
- George Botha Park
- Cassim Park
- New Ermelo
- Autumn Ridge / Nomndeni
- Ermelo Extensions 5, 18, 32, 33, 34 and 39
- Sheepmoor

Please note that once DWS restores the raw water supply, the Municipality's water treatment and distribution systems will require additional time to recover, refill reservoirs, and stabilise pressures throughout the network. As a result, some areas may experience delayed restoration of water supply.

Residents are encouraged to:

- Store sufficient water for essential household use prior to the outage;
- Use water sparingly during the interruption period; and
- Avoid unnecessary water consumption to assist in maintaining available reserves.

Current Reservoir Levels (as at 17:30)

Southern Water Treatment Works Reservoirs

- Southern Reservoir: 64%
- Southern Tower: 10%
- Southern New Reservoir: 55%
- Extension 34 Reservoir: 49%

The Municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused and will continue to provide updates as further information becomes available from the Department of Water and Sanitation.
