7 POINTS TO REMEMBER before injecting a drug.

1. Drug name, indications, contraindications, complications and ALLERGIES.

2. The drug dose and if its scheduled check for when it was last administered (A glance at the anesthesia record or prescription charts is thus paramount)

3. Expiry date

4. Whether it's for IM or IV use.

5. If it's for Intravenous injection ensure that the cannula is functional and there is isotonic fluid to flush it with.

6. Check on the blood pressure before and after injection

7. Document the time it was administered.
