The unrealistic requirement of matric on the insourcing positions advertised is meant to exclude security guards who have faithfully worked for the city.

ActionSA has reached out to the Mayor and City Manager to ensure that no one due to be insourced is left out.

After years of fighting and advocating for the Insourcing of Security Guards, Cleaners and Waste Workers since 2022, and after negotiations with the City, we are proud to inform all Security Guards, that the City has officially advertised the following positions:

1. Security Guard: Guarding Services: EMPD19235R.

This is the first set of vacancies being advertised. We expect that Cleaners will follow in the next week, with waste workers following soon.

We will in the next few weeks arranging workshops in different locations around the City to capacitate workers on how to apply adequately .

In response, we have relocated the event to the Germiston City Hall to better accommodate attendees relying on public transportation.

Council today approves Security, Cleaning Services and Waste Management as a critical human resource for increasing internal capacity in enhancing service delivery.

Today, the City approved its Adjustment Budget, where specific services such as Waste Management, Security and Cleaning Services were declared as critical areas to improve and enhance internal capacity and service delivery.

The adjustment budgets gets us closer for critical posts to be advertised!
