𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗠𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗭𝗘𝗡𝗦
In order to build a people’s government, people should register to vote for a government of their choice.
Through a “power of vote”, a majority form a government that governs our lives.
Through a “power of vote”, a winning party passes a budget using their majority. The budget is the most important tool or instrument to unlock development and finance government priorities.
Through a “power of vote”, a winning party elects a mayor, speaker, and executive mayoral team.
These are extremely crucial positions, and effectively, the municipality is run by the executive mayor and speaker.
𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗭𝗘𝗡𝗦 𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗥𝗘-𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗞 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗩𝗢𝗧𝗘 𝗪𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗟𝗬 𝗢𝗡 𝟰 𝗡𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲
On 1 November 2021, citizens of Makana, who registered with the IEC, were 41000.
From the 41000, only 19000 finally voted , meaning 22000 citizens eligible to vote did not vote.
In other words, the minority voted and gave ANC power to run the government.
The minority government ruled the majority of citizens who stayed away from elections.
This causes weak oversight to hold the government accountable.
This is a root cause of all service delivery problems.
If the majority of citizens come out in large numbers, we can install a people’s government, chosen by the people.
The power to bring about change depends on how we vote.
We call upon all citizens to visit their voting stations and register to vote for the 4 November 2026 election.
Another five years without water, electricity, sanitation, jobs, and houses, all is equivalent to a death sentence.
Register to vote for MCF, the voice of the voiceless.
We dare not fail all citizens
We dare to struggle and win
The criminals have destroyed our city and converted it from being a city of Saints into a City of Shame and Disgust.
Together, we can rise and make Makhanda a great city again.
