We are looking for a Volunteer Data Capturing Assistant to support our campaign team.

This role is ideal for someone who is organised, reliable, and comfortable working with basic computer systems and data entry.

💻 Requirements:

Basic computer literacy
Data capturing experience
Available to assist 2 days per week
Attention to detail and accuracy

🤝 Who can apply:
Retired or semi-retired individuals, as well as unemployed youth who are looking to contribute meaningfully to their community are warmly encouraged to apply.

This is a chance to play a real role in helping us build a more efficient, responsive and people-focused campaign.

Community comes first. 💙

Today, the DA Makana team spent the morning in Scottsfarm, engaging with residents, listening to their concerns and hearing what they want for their community.

We then hosted a soup kitchen, providing warm soup to residents, before visiting a local creche and bringing some extra warmth to our little ones with beanies. 💙

These moments are about more than a campaign. They are about people, community and showing up.

Operations and Maintenance Budget Cut whilst Salaries are Raised
A Postponed Engineering & Infrastructure Meeting — 18 August 2026

The departmental managers for water, electricity, and roads were all waiting to answer questions from councillors, but yesterday’s meeting was postponed because only two councillors arrived and there was no quorum.

The agenda contained a few red flags. The water services operations and maintenance budget has been slashed from R31.68 million to R26.29 million. It is critical that the municipality must have funds to fix the leaking water infrastructure. Why did the municipality cut the cash-funded operations and maintenance budget, when at the last council meeting it raised the salaries of senior managers and granted them two years of backpay?

The agenda stated that 57-68 percent of sanitation complaints were attended to, expressly because of shortage of fleet, staff and materials. The maintenance budget for electricity repairs is R4.06 million, which is a very small budget to fix an ageing electrical network which is regularly subjected to cable theft. Why is there a shortage of materials, and why is there such a small budget for electricity repairs?

Sewage treatment is collapsing, and the agenda stated that the sewage works are "so over-capacitated that it is now deemed a waste of money to continue operating these treatment works."

A big day for DA Makana! 💙🔵

Today our Mayoral Candidate, Luvuyo Sizani, officially launched his five pledges to the people of Makana.

The launch marked the beginning of the next phase of our campaign as we take these commitments into communities across Makana and engage directly with residents about the future of our municipality.

Following the launch, Luvuyo and the team spent the day preparing for the important work ahead as we enter the final 80 days towards Election Day.

There is a lot to do, but we have a clear plan, a committed team and a vision for a municipality that works for all its residents.

Now the real work begins.
