*SCHOOL CLOSED*

Dear parents.

Please note that after 22:00 tonight (2 June), the EASTERN CAPE Dept of Education issued the following memo concerning the closure of schools in parts of the EC. According to this, schools in Makanda will be closed on Wednesday (3 June) due to fear of flooding. The situation for Thursday will be communicated tomorrow.

An alternative writing date will be found for affected exams and communicated at a later stage.

Please stay safe in the grim weather. Learners should study for their exams on Thursday and Friday, as well as those missed.

Boots off, slippers on! 🐾🎒 Today, we are swapping our school shoes for cozy slippers to support Reach For A Dream Foundation.

Our learners and staff raised R20 each for their stickers to help grant dreams for children fighting life-threatening illnesses. Slipper Day is all about compassion, comfort, and showing that every small step makes a difference! 🌈👣Check out these awesome slippers! ✨

On the 26th of May our school was blessed to be visited by Christ for All Nations.

They shared a powerful story about a little boy who lost his toy boat. Later he found it in a shop and bought it back, saying, “Now you are mine a second time.” ❤️

What a beautiful reminder of God’s love for us — that we belong to Him and He cares deeply for every one of us.

We sang together, prayed together, and had such a meaningful time as a school community. Thank you for the encouragement and inspiration!

“Learning takes courage… and sometimes a very BIG snake! 🐍😄
Our brave teachers stepped out of their comfort zones for an unforgettable hands-on experience, holding this beautiful giant snake with confidence, teamwork, and lots of laughter. Moments like these remind us that learning is not only for the classroom — it’s about embracing new experiences and facing fears together.

We are so proud of our adventurous staff for showing our learners that courage and curiosity go hand in hand! 💛 ”

Today our school had an exciting and educational visit from Animals in Wonderland. They presented an amazing wildlife show where learners had the opportunity to see and learn about different birds, snakes, and other fascinating animals up close.
The presentation was fun, interactive, and full of interesting facts about wildlife conservation, animal behavior, and the importance of protecting nature. Seeing the owls and birds of prey in flight, as well as learning about snakes and how they live in the wild, made the experience unforgettable for everyone.
A big thank you to the team from Animals in Wonderland for bringing the adventure to our school and teaching us so much in such an exciting and enjoyable way! 🦉🦅🐍
