The National Lotteries Commission (NLC), which evolved out of the National Lotteries Board, was established in terms of the Lotteries Amendment Act (No 32 of 2013) to regulate the National Lottery as well as other lotteries – including society lotteries – to raise funds and promotional competitions. Our duty as the NLC is to advise on the Minister of Trade and Industry policy, oversee the national lottery, provide funding for good causes, and regulate competitions.

The National Lotteries Commission (NLC) hosted an Education and Awareness Workshop at Retreat library in Joe Marks Boulevard Retreat within City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality. The workshop empowered civil society organisations by enhancing their understanding of the NLC’s regulatory role and its commitment to funding meaningful community initiatives. It also equipped participants with practical skills and knowledge to successfully navigate the NLC funding application process.
