The Timbavati Reserve offers numerous species of game and birdlife abound in the Reserve, the most famous of which are the "white lions". The white lions of Timbavati, the reserves became well known for these remarkably diff

erent coloured lions, Although there are currently no white lions in the Reserve, the recessive gene causing this unusual phenomenon is still carried by the local prides, which are substantially paler than most other lions by comparison. Timbavati Game Reserve, established in 1956 by like-minded game farmers with no fences separating the Reserve from the Kruger National Park. There are a vast number of mammals, over 147, within the park as well as being the home of the "Big Five" (i.e. Plains wildlife on view include impala, kudu, zebra cheetah, giraffe, warthog, monkeys and baboons, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, serval, hippos, crocodiles. There are over 500 bird species found in Kruger, 114 reptiles and 49 species of fish
