Fighters on the ground attending the GBV case of Mayor M. Visser at Phillipstown Magistrates Court. The acts of gender-based violence which he stands accused of are not only alarming but profoundly inhumane. This goes against everything we firmly believe in, what we stand for, and the freedom we fight for. It is an absolute shock that such incidents festering under the facade of leadership have been allowed to transpire, and it is a devastating blow to our Municipality, to our society, to us.

EFF Cllr. Frans Mans conducted an interview today with the sabc, with reference to the sad state of affairs in Thembelihle Local Municipality led by the ANC/SGB. Soos gewoonlik het die comrades en ANC puppet Mayor wegehol vir die kameras. 😌

We are currently operating under the following precarious circumstances:

1. Instability in council
2. Weak administration;
3. Inability to perform on conditional grants;
4. Poor and lack of repairs and maintenance of infrastructure;
5. Poor collection and management of revenue.
6. Weak institutional capacity;
7. Poor governance;
8. Poor financial management
9. No general council meetings

Thembelihle Local Municipality is teetering on the brink of collapse. It’s a known fact that the municipality is currently underperforming and dysfunctional. Residents can't afford to wait until 2026 for the election of new political leadership.
