The Mbhashe Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Dr Samkelo Janda, will officially hand over fishing equipment to the Qatywa Marine Economy on Tuesday, 09 June 2026, at Qatywa community hall in Ward 32, Elliotdale.

The equipment includes an Assassin Slayer rod, a Penn Wrath reel, nylon line, a PVC bag and rubber crayfish gloves.

This initiative demonstrates the Municipality’s commitment to supporting the Oceans Economy by creating sustainable livelihoods, improving food security and growing the coastal economy.
