On Friday 14 August 2026 the Gauteng Liquor Board inspectors visited Diepsloot and Ennerdale's liquor traders to inspect violating traders and enforce infringement laws. In Diepsloot they visited 12 traders where 2 were found to be in gross misconduct violating provincial liquor laws. Infringing traders were shut down and issued a severe fine. Violations include trading with a fraudulent liquor license and trading with the liquor license of a deceased license holder. The SAPS were along for the inspections as every police station in the province has a dedicated liquor officer that can be contacted by the public.

On Friday 7 August 2026 The Gauteng Liquor Board (GLB) inspectors conducted a compliance monitoring operation in Katlehong, Kwanele Section, and Thokoza in the East Rand today as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure that liquor establishments comply with the law and their licence conditions.

During the operation, inspectors identified several instances of non-compliance. A pub and tavern in Kwanele South was found to have a non-operational kitchen, despite its licence requiring it to serve food. The establishment was instructed to address the issue immediately and was given two days to formalise the appointment of a manager at the GLB's Germiston offices.

Inspectors also served a tavern with a notice for failing to provide patrons with light meals, as required by its licence conditions. Another establishment was closed for trading without a valid liquor licence or permit.

A bottle store was issued with its second notice of non-compliance for failing to appoint a manager. Following an initial 14-day notice period, the establishment has now been given two days to comply. The matter will thereafter be referred to the Board for a hearing, where a penalty of up to R200 000 may be imposed.
