NrG supports Vodacom’s goal to help solve South Africa’s energy crisis

As addressed in The Broadband article¹ and Mail & Guardian article², Vodacom South Africa has planned to reduce its green house gas emission and source its electricity from “renewable energy sources across all [their] operations” by 2025. Vodacom intends on meeting these commitments through “renewable independent power producers” and hopes to create a “blueprint for other South African corporates to replicate”.
NrG is delighted to support Vodacom in meeting their sustainability goals and adding capacity to help solve South Africa’s energy crisis. NrG hopes this opportunity will provide a steppingstone for more businesses to investigate renewable energy as a way forward in South Africa. We are ecstatic in being frontrunners, in creating a sustainable model in which other corporations, companies and businesses can mimic to drive forward energy security and stability in South Africa.

The 24th of October marked the International Day for Climate Action. It is a day founded by the organisation @350.org working to reduce the concentration of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere to the safe and acceptable levels of 350 parts per million. Currently that number sits at 412.5ppm, so a lot more needs to be done to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

To commemorate this day, NrG is pleased to say that we have successfully offset at least 7305.35 tonnes of carbon emissions.
