We welcome the concessions made by the Executive Mayor to withdrawal a report on the status of the City Manager.

The report in its current form fails to address the legal opinion on whether the City Manager may be subjected to a precautionary suspension pending his court case, and whether the Executive Mayor has unilateral authority to appoint an Acting City Manager.

ActionSA’s recommendations were adopted by Council asking the Executive Mayor to bring back a report with a legal opinion on the matter.
