Going the right direction

The City of Cape Town has expanded youth-focused substance use support at its Tafelsig Matrix® treatment site in response to growing demand. Young people, parents and caregivers can now access more intensive interventions, dedicated youth support groups and family-focused assistance.

Early intervention can make a real difference. Both the Tafelsig and Parkwood Matrix® sites accept walk-in clients.

Community awareness

Recap: International Drug Awareness Day (26 June 2026), we reflect on the growing crisis affecting our communities.

Sadly, compared to last year, little has improved. In many areas, the problem has become worse.

Drug abuse continues to impact families, youth, and community safety. The damage goes beyond individuals — it affects us all.

We need real solutions: prevention, education, support, rehabilitation, and stronger community partnerships.

Together, we can create change.

Let us stand united against substance abuse.

Responsible Drinking Workshop

On 23 January 2026, Livelyhood Horizon successfully kicked off our programme with a Responsible Drinking Workshop, Venue: Phefeni Recreation Centre Orlando West Soweto, hosted by Greenway Africa in collaboration with NICRO

This workshop empowered participants to not only change their own behaviour, but to influence others positively and contribute to safer, healthier communities.
