Building Family Relations is concerned about the impact of absent mothers on the wellbeing of children. The social platform utilizes the term 'deadbeat moms'. This term is predominantly associated with affluent mothers from the Eastern Cape, as per comments from social media pages that frequently share these distressing stories. These stories are truly heartbreaking, and reading juts one single account can be enough to spoil one's week. Traditionally, grandparents would bridge this gap, but as they pass on, what remains is shameful. This includes instances of aunts and uncles rejecting these children and subjecting them to various forms of abuse, as well as mothers struggling or refusing to integrate these children into their new families.
