Today, we honour the incredible bravery of the youth of 1976 who stood up for justice and changed the course of South Africa's history.

At Joburg Child Welfare, we see that same spark of resilience, potential and brilliance in every child we protect and nurture. Our mission every day is to ensure that the next generation has the safety, love and opportunities they need to thrive and lead.
Let’s keep building a brighter, safer future for our youth. Happy Youth Day to the future changemakers of South Africa.

A warm embrace can change a child's day. At Joburg Child Welfare, our caregivers provide more than care - they provide love, stability and a sense of home when it's needed most. Through every act of kindness, we help create moments of comfort, hope and belonging for the children in our care. 💙

Children don’t always have the words to say “I am being hurt.” Sometimes the signs show up in changes in their behaviour.

A child who suddenly becomes withdrawn, fearful, angry, anxious or starts struggling at school may be trying to cope with something difficult. Being aware of these signs can help us respond when a child needs support.

As parents, teachers, caregivers and community members, we all have a role to play in keeping children safe. Lets look out for our children, listen with care and act when something doesn't feel right.

Human trafficking is a hidden form of violence that exploits children's vulnerability and undermines their rights and dignity.

Trafficking can take many forms, including sexual exploitation, forced labour, criminal exploitation and online grooming. Awareness and vigilance are essential in identifying risks and protecting children from exploitation.

At Joburg Child Welfare, we are committed to protecting children, safeguarding their rights and promoting their wellbeing. Together, we can create safer communities where every child is protected, valued and given the opportunity to thrive. Learn more about our work at: https://jhbchildwelfare.org.za

Every child has the right to safety, dignity, bodily autonomy, and protection from sexual abuse.
Child sexual abuse remains one of the most prevalent forms of violence against children. Many children are harmed by individuals known to them, making awareness, prevention, and early intervention essential.
Understanding consent, recognising inappropriate behaviour, and creating environments where children feel safe to speak are fundamental components of child protection.
