An Information Literacy Session was conducted by Children's Librarian (Bathandwa L. Nkili) on 08/11/2023 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Umthawelanga Primary School to a target audience of 40 Grade 6s (11-14years). The theme of focus was on the “Dewey Decimal Classification System (DDC)”. The resources used was a sheet on the different subjects that fall under each Dewey Decimal Code as well as a short quiz.

On 15/09/2023 10:00am-11:15am Masakhane Library held an integrated September Literacy Quiz which was attended by 8 primary school kids (11-12years) from:

1. Umthawelanga Primary School
2. Chuma Primary School
3. Isivuyiseni Primary School

Masakhane Library hosted a Information Literacy session at Umthawelanga Primary School for Grade 6s, conducted by Children's Librarian for a total of 34pupils. The theme was on the South Africa Bill of Rights -Section 28 and the resources used was pamphlet followed by a short quiz.

Masakhane Library had an integrated 5day(6-10March 2023) program with Lingelethu West SAPS during International Women's Month.

We visited ECDs, primary schools as well as high schools within the surrounding areas, raising awareness on the topics of safety, crime and drug prevention.

The total audience for this program was 574pupils ranging from the ages of 2years-16years.

A big thank you to Sgt. Hedeni State & Team, Sgt. Nyalambisa, the institutions involved as well as Masakhane Library Staff for making this program a success.
