FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Date: 06 March 2026

ANC Warrenton PCO condemns in the strongest terms the brutal killing of 13 year old Temarion Christians and calls for swift, decisive justice
The African National Congress Warrenton Political Constituency Office is wounded in horror and grief at the senseless and brutal murder of Temarion Christians. We extend our deepest condolences to his mother, family and school community. No child should ever face such violence in their home.

We call on the South African Police Service and the National Prosecuting Authority to treat this crime with the utmost urgency and gravity. Those responsible must be held fully accountable. We further urge prosecuting authorities and the courts to oppose bail in this case and to apply the full weight of the law where the facts support remand in custody the seriousness of this offence, the clear risk to community safety, and the need to protect the course of justice demand no leniency.

We are also alarmed by reports that initial responses at the scene were inadequate and that forensics were only collected after family insistence. We call for a full, transparent and independent investigation into the police response, and for any officers found to have acted improperly to be held to account.

The ANC Warrenton PCO will stand with the Christians family. Member Of Parliament. Hon. Sedukanelo Tshepo Louw will visit the family to offer condolences, assess their immediate needs and ensure they receive counselling and support services. We will work with local authorities, the school and community organisations to provide trauma counselling and safety assistance for the family and pupils. We mourn Temarion’s loss and demand justice. Our community must be protected from violent criminality and those who commit such acts must face the consequences under the law.///END

Chairperson,
The dignity of a learner is not negotiable. Section 28 of our Constitution affirms that a child’s best interests are of paramount importance in every matter concerning the child. That principle must guide every decision flowing from this report.
This incident has caused reputational damage to the school and shaken community trust. But reputational repair cannot take precedence over justice and accountability. Transparency, cooperation with Parliament, and implementation of the Committee’s resolutions will determine whether confidence can be restored.

‼️DELAYED POST ‼️

ANC MP Hon. Tshepo Louw visited the school. During the visit, we noted a significant influx of parents due to late registration and various administrative issues related to admissions. These challenges have the potential to delay teaching and learning on the first day of school. We will continue to engage with the DBE to address and resolve these concerns.
