The latest seasonal outlook indicates that ENSO-neutral conditions are expected to transition towards an El Niño phase during the coming months, with impacts becoming more evident towards the 2026/27 summer season.

Above-normal rainfall is expected along the eastern coastal regions.
Below-normal rainfall is favoured over parts of the south-western and southern Cape.
Temperatures are likely to be above normal across most of South Africa.

REMINDER: Heavy rainfall expected from Wednesday

The Valley is expected to experience heavy rainfall from Wednesday until Thursday. The South African Weather Service has warned that these weather conditions could lead to localised flooding, damage to infrastructure, and disruptions to livelihoods.

All emergency and disaster management teams have been activated and are on standby to assist residents should the need arise.
