Kleinmond Pleasure Boats β A Legacy That Floats On
Kleinmond Pleasure Boats is more than a business.
It is a family story, written over 44 years, carried by the water, and held together by love, loss, and resilience.
It all began with my father, Mike Jr. Niemand, whose passion for the water laid the foundation. Soon after, my grandparents, Alta and Mike Niemand, stepped in and made Kleinmond Pleasure Boats what it truly became β a place of joy, simplicity, and shared moments on the lagoon. From those early days until 1999, they poured their hearts into the boats, welcoming families, children, and visitors who would carry those memories with them for life.
As time passed and my grandmother grew older, the responsibility was lovingly handed over to Beulah. She didnβt just take over the business β she became the heart of it. From 1999 until 2016, Beulah ran the boat base with dedication, strength, and warmth. To many people, she was Kleinmond Pleasure Boats. Her presence, her care, and her commitment kept the legacy alive through changing times.
In 2016, we lost Beulah.
After her passing, her husband, Chris Lassen, took on the responsibility of the boats. He carried the legacy forward with pride and respect, holding onto what had been built before him and keeping it afloat through his own strength and determination.
Then came another loss.
In 2025, Chris passed away.
After that, the boats were inherited by Dewald Lassen, who gave me the opportunity to work there and entrusted me with the responsibility of carrying this legacy forward. I am now responsible for the day-to-day running of Kleinmond Pleasure Boats, present daily and deeply involved in every part of its operation.
This journey is deeply personal to me. I worked for Beulah from the age of 13, helping during holidays and whenever I could. I learned the rhythm of the lagoon, the responsibility behind the smiles, and the quiet hard work that keeps something like this alive. What once felt like helping out as a child has now become my purpose.
Alongside me is Eric, who has been part of Kleinmond Pleasure Boats for almost 15 years.
We honour every person who carried this legacy before us β my father, my grandparents, Beulah, and Chris β by showing up every day, by caring deeply, and by ensuring that the boats continue to create memories for generations to come.
This is not just about boats on the water.
It is about family, history, and heart.
And as long as the boats float on the lagoon, their story lives on with them
