MSDM Welcomes Comrade Lopang Rothman

Klerksdorp - Matlosana Service Delivery Movement warmly welcomes Comrade Lopang Rothman to his new political home, MSDM.

Comrade Rothman brings with him a demonstrable track record of conscientious leadership, community commitment, and extensive experience that will strengthen the work and vision of MSDM.

His decision to join MSDM is a testament to the growing confidence in a political movement that is rooted in the lived experiences of our communities. MSDM exists to represent the people where they live, where they struggle, and where they experience the day-to-day workings of our hard-earned democracy.

This moment represents the reshaping and refocusing of how neglected communities must be represented through accountable, community-based leadership that places residents at the centre of decision-making.

We wish Comrade Lopang Rothman well in his new political home. Together, we will continue to consolidate the interests of the KOSH communities into one formidable, community-driven and community-accountable political movement.

Welcome home, Comrade Rothman.

Matlosana Service Delivery Movement | The planned Presidential Visit at Lofadal has exposed the ANC’s continued abuse of state platforms for narrow political interests. Access to the NCOP outreach event has allegedly been limited to ANC loyalists, friends and relatives, while broader communities of the City of Matlosana were excluded from meaningful participation.

To date, the NCOP has not publicly communicated the criteria or transparent process used to grant access to this engagement. This raises serious concerns about fairness, transparency and whether this was truly a people-centered oversight visit or merely a staged political gathering.

The NCOP is a constitutional institution meant to represent the aspirations and voices of all communities not an extension of the ANC campaign machinery. Communities facing collapsing infrastructure, sewer spillages, unemployment and service delivery failures deserve genuine engagement, not a rented crowd assembled for optics and applause.

If government truly wants to hear the people, then access must be open, inclusive and representative of the real conditions experienced by ordinary residents of KOSH.

Flea Market by the Matlosana Service Delivery Movement

Media Statement
22 April 2026

The Matlosana Service Delivery Movement hereby reaffirms its commitment to the youth of Matlosana through the hosting of a Free Youth Flea Market on 30 May 2026 at Z-Park in Jouberton. This initiative is not merely an event—it is a direct intervention in response to the deepening socio-economic crisis confronting young people across our communities.

For far too long, the youth of Klerksdorp, Jouberton, Kanana, Orkney, Stilfontein, Khuma, Tigane, and surrounding areas have been subjected to systemic neglect. Unemployment, poverty, lack of access to markets, and the absence of structured economic support continue to define the lived reality of many young people.

Those who attempt to rise above these conditions by starting small businesses and informal enterprises are met with little to no institutional backing.

We state unequivocally that the City of Matlosana under the African National Congress (ANC) has failed to cultivate, support, and empower young entrepreneurs. There are no sustainable programmes, no accessible funding mechanisms, and no meaningful infrastructure to support youth-owned enterprises. Instead of enabling growth, the system has become a barrier.

Equally concerning is the collapse of sports, arts, culture, and recreation within the municipality. Facilities that should serve as engines of youth development have been reduced to symbols of exclusion and decay. Stadiums are deteriorating, parks are either non-existent or unsafe, and recreational spaces have been effectively monopolised by a select few with access and influence, leaving the majority of young people sidelined.

This is not just mismanagement—it is a failure of vision and leadership.

The Flea Market initiative is therefore a deliberate act of resistance against economic exclusion. It is a platform created to give young people direct access to opportunity—to trade, to network, to showcase their talent, and to build sustainable livelihoods without gatekeeping.

We further emphasise that this initiative promotes inclusivity across all sectors of youth expression. With live entertainment featuring 2 Point 1, an open platform for local DJs, and motivational engagements led by Kgotso Sindi and Moipone Mahiwa, the event integrates economic empowerment with cultural revival.

The Matlosana Service Delivery Movement calls on all young people to take ownership of this platform. We also call on community stakeholders to recognise that real development will not come from empty promises, but from practical, community-driven initiatives such as this.

The time for passive observation is over. The youth of Matlosana must organise, participate, and build independent pathways to economic freedom.

Media Statement | For Immediate Release

19 April 2026

A resident of Matlosana has tragically passed away after living for an extended period with raw sewage in her yard , a condition she repeatedly reported without resolution.

The Matlosana Service Delivery Movement (MSDM) wrote to the Minister of Health and the MEC for Health, calling for urgent intervention. To date, there has been no response from any sphere of government.

This is not just a service delivery failure. It is a failure of dignity, a failure of accountability, and a failure of the state to protect its most vulnerable. No person should be forced to live in such inhumane conditions, and certainly not die waiting for basic sanitation.

We call for:

● An urgent investigation into this matter
● Accountability from the City of Matlosana
● Immediate intervention to address ongoing sanitation failures in affected communities.

Our thoughts are with the family. We will not allow this matter to be buried with her.
Sanitation is dignity. Dignity cannot wait.

They informed the town. They ignored the township.

For two days now, parts of Jouberton have been left without water — a basic human necessity turned into a privilege.

This is not just an inconvenience. It is a failure of service delivery, a reflection of inequality, and a clear indication of whose voices are prioritised — and whose are not.

As the Matlosana Service Delivery Movement, we refuse to be silenced.

We will not be silent while our communities are neglected.

Access to water is a right, not a favour.
