Knysna has always been the gem of the Garden Route. It includes Sedgefield, Karatara, Buffalo Bay, Rheenendal, Brenton and Noetzie.

𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀
• Water treatment plants, pump stations and sewage systems in Sedgefield remain under pressure due to the ongoing Eskom electricity outage.
• The Sedgefield generator is fully operational and continues to support critical services.
• Municipal teams were dispatched to simultaneously attend to pipe breaks in the Bosuns and Sunridge areas.
• Continuous monitoring of all critical water and sanitation infrastructure is underway.
• Contingency measures are being implemented where possible to ensure service continuity.

𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗗𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖
Due to localized flooding and waterlogged conditions resulting from the recent rainfall, the following roads have been temporarily closed to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians:
• Marlin Road
• Rawson Street
• Hospital Street
• Charlie Lavack
• Handel Street between Main Street and Agnar Street
• Hospital Street Howard Street at the Golf Course

In addition, the intersection of Main Road and Hedge Street remains accessible. However, motorists are urged to proceed with caution as water levels may fluctuate depending on weather conditions and tidal influences.

Please note that high tides are expected from 17:15, which may result in further localized flooding in low-lying areas. Residents and road users are encouraged to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel through flooded areas, and adhere to all road closure signage and instructions from traffic officials.

Traffic Services and municipal teams continue to monitor conditions closely and will provide further updates as necessary.
• Mop-up and cleanup operations are ongoing.

𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬
• The Eskom power interruption affecting Sedgefield, Karatara and Brackenhill remains in place.
• In Brackenhill, residents continue to experience power outages due to vandalism of Eskom infrastructure.
• The municipality remains in contact with Eskom and will communicate updates as they become available.

𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗘𝗦
• No major reports of fallen trees have been received to date.
• Municipal teams remain on standby and will be dispatched should the need arise. The team attended a report in Market Street.
• A tree fire was reported in Salt River and was promptly attended to by emergency response teams.

𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗦
• Municipal halls remain closed at this stage.
• Facilities will be opened should circumstances require accommodation or emergency assistance for affected residents.

𝗛𝗨𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗡 𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗙
• The distribution of gunplast sheets and sandbags is ongoing and is being coordinated in accordance with reports received through Emergency Services.
• Humanitarian relief efforts continue in collaboration with various stakeholders to support affected communities.

• The refuse collection schedule remains unaffected, and collections are proceeding as planned.

UPDATE | ESKOM POWER OUTAGE📢

Please note that multiple areas in the Garden Route are currently without electricity due to faults under severe Level 8 weather conditions.

Affected areas include:
• Wilderness, Woodville, Karatara, and Sedgefield
• The Crags and Nature’s Valley

Eskom technical teams are on site and actively conducting fault-finding, despite challenging weather conditions.

Customers are kindly requested to remain patient while repair and restoration efforts are underway.

Following the heavy downpour experienced across parts of the municipality, some roads have become inaccessible due to localized flooding and erosion. To safeguard residents, motorists, and property, the municipality has taken the precautionary decision to temporarily close certain roads.

The following road closures are currently in effect:
🚧 Howard Street at the Golf Course
🚧 Handel Street between Main Street and Agnar Street

Motorists and road users are requested to make use of alternative routes until further notice. The affected roads will be reopened as soon as conditions are deemed safe.

Municipal teams remain on high alert and continue to monitor and respond to weather-related incidents across the municipal area.

Are you an established entrepreneur ready to grow your business?

Knysna Municipality invites dynamic and committed local entrepreneurs to apply for its Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Support and Development Programme.

Successful applicants will receive financial and non-financial support, including business development interventions and training, to help grow and expand their businesses.

WHO MAY APPLY?
Applicants must:
• Operate an existing business that has been active for more than 12 months.
• Be seeking support to grow or expand their business.
• Operate within the Greater Knysna municipal area.
• Be a business that is at least 51% Black owned.
• Not be a start-up business.
• Not have previously benefited from the MSME Incubator Programme.
• Submit an official application form issued by Knysna Municipality.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:
Please attach the following to your application:
• Business Plan or Business Profile, including a breakdown of equipment required
• Six-month Profit and Loss Summary / Income Statement
• Six months’ bank statements for the business account
• Confirmation of employees
• Company registration documents (CIPC)
• Tax Clearance Certificate
• Certified copy of the owner’s Identity Document
• Proof of address, not older than three months

SELECTION PROCESS:
Stage 1: Submission of the completed application form and all required supporting documents.
Stage 2: Shortlisted applicants present their business expansion proposal to the selection panel.
