Who is a Firefighter?

A firefighter is a person who holds a compassion for their job, a love of their department and a Brotherhood of over a million strong, extending world-wide, with other men and women alike.

They are people who you can count on, anytime day or night.

They are people who take pride in what they do… it’s all they know, it’s who they are.

They don’t consider themselves heroes... and are happy to protect and serve.

They are the electricians, carpenters, business professionals, pipe-fitters, mechanics, butchers, teachers, welders… they come from practically all walks of life.

So the next time you see a firefighter…. Please stop and thank them for what they do.

Whether they are paid or volunteer they didn't have to take this job....

they wanted it.

Firefighters are raising concerns about the dangers of leaving plastic water bottles inside hot cars.

When sunlight hits a clear, full bottle, it can act like a magnifying glass and focus heat on flammable surfaces.

This concentrated beam may spark a fire, especially on car seats or paper items.

A real case showed smoke and a burned seat caused by a bottle left under the sun.

Though rare, the risk increases with high temperatures and low humidity.

Besides fire, there are health concerns from drinking water stored in hot plastic bottles.

Heat can release harmful chemicals like BPA into the water.

To stay safe, avoid leaving bottles in direct sunlight or switch to insulated containers.

Choose BPA-free options and keep your car cool whenever possible.

Safety and hydration go hand in hand—stay alert and protect both.

The first HURST Jaws of Life rescue tool debuted in 1972. The first department to have it? Parkland Fire Company. And they've still got it. Happy anniversary to us.
