ANCYL ALFRED NZO REGION MOURNS THE BRUTAL ASSASSINATION OF CDE NELISILE XOLO AND DEMANDS SWIFT JUSTICE
The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) Alfred Nzo Region has received with
profound shock, anger, and immeasurable pain the devastating news of the brutal assassination of our former Regional Chairperson, Cde Nelisile Xolo, who was mercilessly gunned down in what appears to have been a calculated and targeted attack during the late hours of Friday.
This barbaric and senseless killing has robbed the movement, the community, and the people
of Alfred Nzo of a disciplined, courageous, and selfless revolutionary whose life was dedicated
to the service of our people and the advancement of the National Democratic Revolution. No political activist, community leader, or citizen should ever have to lose their life in such a violent and inhumane manner.
Cde Xolo belongs to a generation of leaders that only recently graduated from the ranks of
the ANCYL after serving as the Regional Chairperson of the ANCYL Alfred Nzo Region during 2017 and 2020. Although he had transitioned into senior structures of the movement, he never distanced himself from the Youth League. He remained actively involved in ANCYL programmes and mentoring young cadres. He was a disciplined cadre, a fearless leader, intentional in his work and principled in his conduct.
The ANCYL Alfred Nzo Region is deeply concerned by what appears to be an emerging pattern of organised and targeted killings. We therefore believe that this brutal murder warrants the urgent attention of the Provincial Joint Tactical Team or (PKTT). We call upon the PKTT to intervene decisively and deploy all necessary investigative and intelligence resources before this apparent criminal syndicate escalates its activities, as has been witnessed in other parts of our country.
We further call upon the South African Police Service and all law enforcement agencies to
pursue every possible lead, utilise every available forensic and intelligence resource, and
leave no stone unturned in identifying, arresting, and successfully prosecuting every
individual responsible for this heinous crime, including anyone who may have planned,
facilitated, or financed this attack.
During this painful time, the ANCYL Alfred Nzo Region extends its deepest and most heartfelt
condolences to the Xolo family, his beloved wife and children, the African National Congress,
the South African Communist Party, friends and comrades. We share in your grief and stand
in solidarity with you as we mourn the loss of a father and a comrade.
May his revolutionary soul rest in eternal peace.
