The Independent Alliance seeks to address the inadequate response to the evident mismanagement by Her Worship, Mayor Clir. Lindile Nhaca of KwaDukuza. Instead of taking proactive measures and utilizing her authority as the Municipality's leader to launch an investigation as per our request, the mayor opted to release a superficial statement in an attempt to diminish the gravity of the situation and safeguard the Mayoral LED Start-Up Programme, which is suspected of involvement in money laundering.
While the Independent Alliance acknowledges the potential merit of the program, it emphasizes that conceptual value is rendered futile if not executed effectively. The mayor should acknowledge that the primary individuals impacted by the subpar equipment supplied by the service providers are entrepreneurs, rather than the officials whom the mayor promptly defended.
If the mayor genuinely prioritizes the welfare of the business community, she should concentrate on substantiating the claims and setting an example by ensuring the provision of high-quality equipment. Notably, we are unsurprised by the mayor's extensive statement, aligning with the customary defense and dismissal approach of the political party she represents.
The Independent Alliance maintains that the mayor should initiate an inquiry into the allegations and offer assurance to the public regarding the value of each procured equipment. This matter can be expeditiously resolved if more effort is dedicated to providing evidence rather than producing protracted and unremarkable statements.
