DOCRRA is proud to support the launch of the new Umhlali SAPS Community Police Forum (CPF). 🙌

DOCRRA contributed R10,000 in start-up funding to help get the CPF off the ground and enable its important work alongside SAPS.

The CPF will strengthen the connection between SAPS and the community, helping to improve communication, collaboration and coordination when it comes to local safety.

Another great example of what can be achieved when our community works together. 🤝

A heavy police presence helped keep anti-immigration protests peaceful across the North Coast yesterday, with no major violence reported at time of print.

June 30 had been declared by anti-illegal immigration movement March and March leaders as an unofficial deadline for undocumented foreign nationals to leave South Africa. Similar marches took place in major cities and towns across the country.

Amanzimtoti Community Police Forum
COMMUNITY NOTICE

The Amanzimtoti Community Police Forum together with Amanzimtoti SAPS, Metro Police, Security Companies, CPF Sub-Forum Chairpersons, and Neighbourhood Watch representatives, met at Amanzimtoti SAPS on 22 June 2026 to discuss the Community Safety plan in lieu of the planned nationwide demonstrations on 30 June 2026.

During the meeting, Col. Mzimela, Station Commander of Amanzimtoti Police Station assured all stakeholders that law enforcement together with force-multipliers will be fully mobilised in the Amanzimtoti policing area to ensure the safety and security of all residents.

The mandated CPF Sub-Forums and Neighbourhood Watches have subsequently held follow-up meetings throughout the three sectors of our policing areas over the last week. Leading by example, the volunteer patrolers confirmed their readiness to support law enforcement in their peace-keeping activities and will be actively monitoring and patroling all areas from the evening of 29 June 2026.

Residents are encouraged to act as the eyes and ears of law enforcement, reporting any suspicious activity for verification and follow-up by the appropriate authorities while refraining from engaging hostile actors directly.

At this stage, Amanzimtoti is considered a low-risk area, as there are relatively few foreign-owned businesses operating locally. However, residents are urged to remain vigilant, share intelligence, and act as an early-warning system should unlawful activity be identified.

Residents are encouraged to contact their local CPF Sub-Forum or Neighbourhood Watch to join the area specific community WhatsApp and/or alerts groups. Furthermore, residents are encouraged to save their local security provider emergency number as well as the mobile numbers for Amanzimtoti Police station:

COMMUNITY SAFETY NOTICE – 30 JUNE 2026

The SAPS Umhlali CPF wishes to assure all community members that comprehensive safety measures are in place for 30 June 2026.

Joint visible policing and patrol operations will be conducted by SAPS, Public Order Policing (POP), Community Police Forums (CPF), Community in Blue (CIB), Youth Crime Desk Prevention (YCDP), Neighbourhood Watch Patrollers, and local private security companies to ensure the safety and security of our communities.

While peaceful protest is a constitutional right, any acts of violence, intimidation, criminality, or damage to property will not be tolerated. We urge residents to remain calm, vigilant, and responsible when sharing information on social media.

Please verify all information before forwarding messages, as unverified rumours can create unnecessary panic and confusion.

Umhlali Community Police Forum CPF Attends Provincial Community Safety Engagement

On 27 June 2026, the SAPS Umhlali Community Police Forum (CPF) attended the KwaZulu-Natal Province Community Safety and Liaison Premier's Engagement with Chairpersons of Community Safety Structures at the Mayville Conference Centre.

The engagement brought together 184 Community Police Forum Chairpersons from across KwaZulu-Natal to strengthen partnerships with the South African Police Service and government.

Discussions focused on enhancing community safety, promoting lawful conduct during public protests, addressing immigration-related concerns through legal processes, discouraging vigilantism, and reaffirming the shared responsibility of building safer communities.

SAPS Umhlali CPF remains committed to working alongside SAPS, community stakeholders, and residents to promote safety, accountability, and lawful community participation.
