Today, the Mayor of Senqu Local Municipality, your worship Cllr V. Stokhwe, Joined MEC for Agriculture, Ms. N. Kontsiwe, and Executive Mayor of Joe Gqabi District Municipality, Cllr N. Mposelwa, to hand over an over a newly built shearing shed to local farmers in Ward 4,Phelandaba,Spambo Village.This occasion highlights the commitment to supporting our agricultural community.

Senqu is known for producing some of the finest wool in South Africa, and this initiative is all about empowering our local farmers. With this new shearing shed, farmers will have access to the right infrastructure and tools to enhance their productivity and maintain top-notch wool quality.

The shed is equipped with modern shearing and wool-handling equipment that will make a real difference for these farmers, helping them not just to produce but also to market their wool effectively. It’s a step towards strengthening their roles in the wool industry and improving their livelihoods.

Today’s event also brings together various government departments and stakeholders, such as the Department of Home Affairs, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), and BKB. They’re offering mobile services to the community through a "services on wheels" initiative, ensuring that residents can easily access important government services right at their doorstep.

This handover marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to foster rural development, agricultural growth, and economic empowerment in Senqu. It’s a great day for our farmers and our community as we work together for a brighter future!
