Speaker, Hon. Dr Makoma Makhurupetje joins Rokunda Mulovhedzi to share a message to the people of Limpopo about the Legislature tabled budget.

The Limpopo Provincial Legislature today convened a sitting at the Lebowakgomo Legislative Chambers for the tabling of budget votes as part of the 2026/27 provincial budget process. The sitting was presided over by the Deputy Speaker of the Legislature, Hon. Tebogo Mamorobela, while Speaker of the Legislature, Dr. Makoma Makhurupetje, delivered the budget speech for Vote 02: Limpopo Legislature.
During the sitting, Members of the Executive Council tabled departmental budget votes outlining priorities and planned service delivery interventions for the 2026/27 financial year. MEC for Social Development, Hon. Florence Radzilani, presented Vote 12: Department of Social Development, while MEC Hon. Grace Kekana tabled Vote 04: Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The budget presentations form part of the Legislature’s constitutional mandate to consider, debate, and oversee the allocation of provincial resources aimed at advancing service delivery and socio-economic development across Limpopo.

The Speaker of the Limpopo Legislature, Hon. Dr. Makoma Makhurupetje, together with the Deputy Speaker of the Limpopo Legislature, Hon. Tebogo Mamorobela, Chair of Chairs Hon. Thabo Mokone, and Chief Whip Hon. Essob Mokgonyana, today received a briefing prior to the sitting of the House from the Executive Management of the Legislature led by the Secretary to the Legislature, Dr. Maake M.T.
The sitting of the House is expected to receive budget presentations for Vote 02: The Limpopo Legislature by the Speaker of the Limpopo Legislature, Hon. Dr. Makoma Makhurupetje, as well as budget presentations by Members of the Executive Council, Hon. Florence Radzilani for Vote 12: Department of Social Development, and Hon. Grace Kekana for Vote 04: Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The budget presentations form part of the Legislature’s oversight and governance responsibilities aimed at ensuring accountability, transparency, and effective service delivery to the people of Limpopo.

The Secretary of the Limpopo Legislature Dr. Maake M.T together with the Management team convened a meeting today, the 13th May 2026 , aimed at optimising performance and maintaining of productivity for improvement of the overall status and functioning of the institution.

The portfolio committee on Sport, Arts & Culture has during their second session met with the Limpopo Sports Confederations with representative from all the districts in the Province. They briefed members on their composition, services offered by the confederations, their stakeholders and challenges faced by these statutory bodies.

Members of the Portfolio Committee on Sport, Arts and Culture led by Chairperson Hon. Falaza Mdaka earlier met with office of the provincial state attorney represented by their head of office Mr. Machaka Chuene for a briefing on their composition, recruitment process, their area of work and workload involved, and their level of involvement on litigations in relation to the department of Sport, Arts & Culture in terms of those outstanding, concluded and recoveries made to-date.

The Secretary of Limpopo Legislature Dr. Maake MT together with Management team, convened a Special meeting with the Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure and related stakeholders. The meeting which was chaired by the department, served to officially hand over contractors who will be responsible for the refurbishment of the Legislature building. Following the meeting, all participants including stakeholders led by Dr. Maake, conducted a walkabout to assess the area earmarked for the future construction of a new road .

The Limpopo Legislature's Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs led by the Chairperson Hon. Champ Sepuru earlier convened a Special meeting with the Department led by the MEC Basikop Makamu , and the Lephalale Local Municipality led by the Mayor Aaron Mokgehle. The meeting focused on progress made in the implementation made of the long-awaited New Altoostyd RDP housing project and the Marapong Community Residential Units (CRU) project. During the session both the Department and the Municipality presented updates on the current status of the projects, which are expected to address housing challenges in the Lephalale area.
