[Oversight Visit in Mgobodzi]

EDM MMC for Technical Services and his team also visited the Mgobodzi Community to inspect the installed solar-powered borehole.

As part of the visit, the MMC personally tested the water to assess its drinkability, demonstrating confidence in the quality of the water being supplied to residents.

This important project is helping to bring clean, safe, and reliable water closer to the community while harnessing sustainable solar energy to ensure long-term access to this essential resource.

The visit highlights EDM's ongoing commitment to improving service delivery and enhancing the lives of residents through practical and sustainable infrastructure investments.

Ensuring Safe and Reliable Water for Our Communities

Today, the EDM MMC for Technical Services, together with his dedicated team, visited Mzinti Ruth First to assess the recently installed borehole water supply.

As part of the inspection, the MMC and officials personally tasted the borehole water and were satisfied with its quality, confirming that it is safe and suitable for drinking. This visit demonstrates the municipality's commitment to ensuring that residents have access to clean, safe, and reliable water sources.

The team also engaged with community members and emphasized the importance of maintaining and protecting the borehole infrastructure for the benefit of all residents.

The Honourable Executive Mayor of Ehlanzeni District Municipality will be visiting the community of Mgobodzi, together with the Honourable Executive Mayor of Nkomazi Local Municipality on Friday 19 June.

[SODA HIGHLIGHT]

To extend waste collection into rural areas, we procured and distributed 22 skip bins across our Local Municipalities over the past 3 years.

Furthermore, we empowered informal waste pickers by distributing 14 tricycles to local NPOs.

This transforms informal picking into productive micro-enterprises drastically increasing daily earnings, reducing physical strain, and diverting recyclables from our landfills.
