The Department had the honour of hosting the ABF Foundation during a courtesy visit where they formally introduced the newly crowned Mr Mpumalanga, Nkosikhona Roro, to the Head of Department, Mr Mxolisi Mahlangu.

The engagement served as an important platform to strengthen partnerships and recognise young ambassadors who continue to inspire and represent the province with pride and excellence.

The HOD congratulated the new Mr Mpumalanga, Nkosikhona Roro, on this remarkable achievement and wish him success as he carries the responsibility of representing the province.

This morning the MEC and the HOD had in a meet and greet session with the Top 8 finalists of the Mister Mpumalanga.

During the engagement, ABM Foundation, the founders of Mister Mpumalanga expressed their appreciation to the Department for the continued support it has provided throughout the years. This was also an opportunity for the finalists also had an opportunity to formally introduce themselves to the MEC and the Head of Department (HOD) ahead of their competition tomorrow, Saturday, 23 May 2026.

Addressing the contestants, the MEC emphasised the importance of initiatives such as Mister Mpumalanga in recognising and empowering young men. She highlighted that the mandate of the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation goes beyond promoting culture, as it also includes fostering social cohesion and community development.

The MEC encouraged the finalists to become drivers of positive change in society, noting that Mister Mpumalanga provides young men with a valuable platform to inspire and uplift others. She further commended the contestants for their involvement in various fields of study and development, stating that their achievements already demonstrate a commitment to creating meaningful change.

In her closing remarks, the MEC reminded the finalists that reaching the Top 8 is already a significant achievement. She encouraged them to continue striving for success regardless of the final outcome and urged them to use the Mister Mpumalanga platform responsibly and wisely. The MEC concluded by wishing all the contestants the very best in the competition.
