Council for Debt Collectors The Council has been established by the Debt Collectors Act 114 of 1998 to regulate the occupation of debt collector.

Council for Debt Collectors ensures that all debt collectors are registered. We monitor and control their interactions with the public, making sure that people are not treated unfairly. As the Council of Debt Collectors we are the Custodian of the Debt Collectors Act, protecting the best interest of consumers and the regulation of the debt collectors. Council for Debt Collectors is the ONLY govern

ment established entity that regulates the Debt Collection industry. If you are not registered with CDC you cannot practice as a debt collector. With rights come responsibility and as a consumer you should not pay over your money to any debt collector unless they are registered with the Council for Debt Collectors. Reputable debt collectors are registered with Council for Debt Collectors. Empowering the public to know their rights when approached by a debt collector. Council for Debt Collectors is an agent of government, active in Consumer Protection as it relates to debt collection, finally and ever so importantly the Council for Debt Collectors gives free advice on the Debt Collectors Act.
