The University of Mpumalanga hosted a Career Expo bringing together students, unemployed graduates, and employers - creating a platform for meaningful dialogue, connection, and opportunity.
MICT SETA was proud to be part of it.

At our stand, we shared insights on career pathways in emerging industries, the skills needed to thrive in the MICT sector, and the skills development opportunities available through the SETA; including a deep dive at labour market trends, skills shortages, and the occupations shaping the future economy.

Beyond information, the Expo created real moments of connection wherein young people engaged directly with organisations invested in their growth and walking away better equipped to navigate the world of work.

The kind of engagement MICT SETA exists to support.

Expanding access to career information in rural and marginalised communities is a key focus of the MICT SETA Rural Development Strategy.

On 13-14 August 2026, the MICT SETA joined the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Technology (PCHET) Career Expo, alongside Hon. Tshepo Louw, Member of Parliament and other dignitaries, in Phokwane Municipality, Northern Cape to connect communities with opportunities across education, technology skills development and career pathways.

The event brought together learners, unemployed youth, students and the community at large, providing access to career information and an opportunity to engage with stakeholders on pathways to employment and further education.

Taking career information to rural communities helps ensure that distance is not a barrier to opportunity.
