Renegades Search & Rescue is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying and locating the family of a minor who identified herself as Nonhlanhla Majozi.

The child states she is originally from Mtubatuba, KwaZulu-Natal. She is unable to recall her parents names or provide further details about her family. She reported being in Johannesburg with her mother on 9 June 2026.

According to information provided by the child, her mother also has another daughter named Aphiwe Dube. This detail may assist in tracing relatives and confirming the child’s identity.

Renegades Search & Rescue is requesting anyone who knows the child, her family, or has information that could help locate her next of kin.

The organization remains committed to ensuring the child’s safety and wellbeing while efforts to reunite her with her family continue.

‼️ UMKHANYAKUDE DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY ALIGNS STRUCTURE FOR 2026/2027 FINANCIAL YEAR ‼️

UMKHANYAKUDE District Municipality, under the leadership of His Worship Mayor Cllr Siphile Mdaka, held its Extended Management Committee organogram meeting on 09 June 2026 in preparation for the 2026/2027 financial year.

The meeting was convened to review and align the municipal structure to service delivery priorities, budget allocations, and the strategic objectives of the Integrated Development Plan.

Key matters discussed included proposed structural adjustments to improve efficiency, alignment of posts to IDP and SDBIP targets, and ensuring optimal capacity for effective implementation of 2026/2027 programmes across the district.

A draft organogram will be circulated to all departments and relevant stakeholders for inputs before submission to Council for approval. This process reaffirms the municipality’s commitment to building a responsive and capable administration for the communities of uMkhanyakude.

The interruption is due to an Eskom power outage. The fault has been logged with Eskom. Plant operations will resume as soon as power is restored.

‼️ JOINT OPERATION LEADS TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ARREST AND CLOSURE OF SUPERMARKETS IN MANGUZI‼️

NEWS:A joint operation led by uMkhanyakude District Municipality under Mayor Cllr Siphile Mdaka, in collaboration with Home Affairs, SANDF Border Management Authority, Immigration and SAPS, resulted in the arrest of 11 illegal immigrants and 1 person for hiring workers without proper documentation.

The operation took place in Manguzi Town, Mhlabuyalingana Local Municipality. Four supermarkets were shut down for non-compliance, including the sale of expired food dating back to February 2025. Expired products found included baby formula.

EXCO Member Cllr Mandla Zungu, who took part in the operation, said the experience was deeply disturbing. “With a wave of sick school learners who allegedly consumed poisonous snacks, this now makes clear what the cause could be. We urge our people to double check expiry dates before buying any grocery,” emphasized Zungu.

‼️ MAYOR SIPHILE MDAKA CONDUCTS OVERSIGHT VISIT AT NONDABUYA WATER PROJECT TO EXPEDITE DELIVERY‼️

On Wednesday 03 June 2026, Mayor Cllr Siphile Mdaka conducted an oversight site visit at the Nondabuya Water Project with the aim of expediting progress and resolving on-site challenges. The project is set to deliver 7.2km of steel pipeline and a 1 000kl reservoir to secure water supply for Ward 19 and Ward 23, while also benefiting neighbouring wards.

During the visit, Mayor Mdaka engaged directly with contractors, engineers, and the project management team to assess timelines and delivery bottlenecks. She emphasised that water security is non-negotiable for the communities of uMkhanyakude.

“This Nondabuya project is an impactful project. We are not just laying pipes, we are restoring dignity,” said Mayor Mdaka. “Every day of delay is another day a mother walks far for water, another day a learner misses class. uMkhanyakude District Municipality remains committed to the provision of potable water for every household, and I will personally monitor progress until water flows from every tap.”

TEMPORARY SHUTDOWN OF WATER TREATMENT FACILITIES
04 June 2026

UMkhanyakude District Municipality wishes to notify residents of an immediate shutdown of several water treatment facilities due to a security guard strike.

The following plants are currently offline:
1. Mtubatuba Water Treatment Works – WTW
2. Mtubatuba Waste Water Treatment Works – WWTW
3. Hluhluwe Phase 1 WTW
4. Hluhluwe Phase 2 WTW

Process controllers were compelled to shut down the plants and evacuate the sites for safety reasons.

Affected areas:
- Mtubatuba Local Municipality: Ward 1 to Ward 23
- Big 5 Hlabisa Local Municipality: Ward 1 to Ward 8

Residents are urged to use water sparingly and store emergency supplies where possible. Tanker trucks will be deployed to critical facilities like hospitals and clinics.
