The Department of Public Works and Roads - NW led by Head of Department, Mr Moses Kgantsi, is engaging with the Barokologadi Communal Property Association (CPA) at Sebele House, Melorane ERP Game Reserve, on matters relating to the development and accessibility of Road D53. The road leads from Molatedi village to Road R47 towards Zeerust and the Kopfotein Border post to Botswana.

The engagement seeks to find common ground between the CPA, surrounding communities and the Department, particularly around the existing boom gate on Road D53 and the need to ensure that communities continue to have access to the road that goes through a game reserve following a land restitution to the Barokologadi CPA.

Discussions are focused on ensuring that there is a sustainable way to strengthen the broader socio-economic benefits associated with the planned developments in the reserve without compromising on the rights of other road users.

In observance of Women’s Month, the North West Department of Public Works and Roads (DPWR) hosts a two-day women's empowerment engagement led by Head of Department (HOD), Mr Moses Kgantsi, under the HOD’s 8 Principles.

The HoD’s 8-Principle Action Plan is a South African public service framework launched in 2007 by the Department of Public Service and Administration to promote women's empowerment and gender equality in the workplace.

This year’s engagement by DPWR placed a deliberate focus on women’s empowerment to examine whether the principles are translating into meaningful change in the workplace.
To date, the department has 46% of women in senior management.

HOD Kgantsi describes the 8 Principles initiative as an important vehicle through which the Department continues to institutionalise women's empowerment and gender equality and accountability.
