WATERBERG DISTRICT MUNICIPAL WATER WAR ROOM LAUNCHED

Following a directive issued by the Limpopo Executive Council requiring all Water Service Authorities to establish Municipal Water War Rooms, the Executive Mayor of Waterberg District Municipality, Cllr Moloko Maeko, convened a meeting with all Mayors and Municipal Managers within the District.

The meeting was aimed at formally establishing and launching the Waterberg Water War Room (WWWR). The primary objective of the WWWR is to serve as an integrated, responsive and coordinated platform to identify, address and monitor water-related challenges across the District.

The structure of the Waterberg Water War Room will comprise the Executive Mayor as the Chairperson, Mayors from the Local Municipalities, senior officials from the Technical War Room, as well as representatives from relevant Sector Departments and key stakeholders.

In his address, the Executive Mayor emphasised the importance of full participation by all Municipalities, warning that non-participation would undermine coordinated efforts and negatively affect service delivery.

The meeting was attended by the Mayors of Bela-Bela, Modimolle-Mookgopong, Thabazimbi, as well as representatives from Eskom, Magalies Water, Lepelle Northern Water, and senior officials from various Municipalities within the Waterberg District.
