Effective cooperation and a well-established communication network among community safety partners led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle yesterday, 31 August 2026.

A request to be on the lookout for a Toyota Prado was circulated on a community safety WhatsApp group after a home was burgled in Dana Bay and the vehicle was stolen.

Information indicated that the vehicle had travelled along Louis Fourie Road near Essenhout Street at approximately 02:52. The Mossel Bay Joint Operations Centre, or JOC through its CCTV control room was requested to use the available camera network to help establish the vehicle’s movements.

Information provided by the JOC directed a municipal community safety officer to the Albert Luthuli Park area. During a patrol, the abandoned vehicle was located at 11:03 and immediately reported to the South African Police Service.

SAPS took control of the scene, inspected the vehicle and transported it to the police station for further investigation.

Mossel Bay Municipality thanks everyone whose swift response and cooperation contributed to the recovery of the vehicle.

It was my privilege to attend an event honouring George Nesar with his wife Frieda and celebrating 24 years of their business.

George is a great example to many of us of commitment, determination and service to his community. His contribution to Mossel Bay goes far beyond the successful business he has built over the past 24 years and the role it has played in our local economy.

George has also shown remarkable determination in his personal life. As a person living with a disability, he has never allowed his wheelchair to define what he can achieve. His passion for bowls has seen him participate at national level on various occasions, which is an achievement that deserves great recognition.

His commitment to our community is equally admirable. George has served as a member of the Ward Committee and as Chairperson of the Midbrak Ratepayers Association, always willing to get involved and contribute to the betterment of our town.

As Gleniqua Properties enters a new chapter, George will continue with the business focusing on rentals, while Michelle Smith from P3 Properties will continue with property sales.

George, thank you for your years of commitment to Mossel Bay, for the example you set, and for the contribution you continue to make to our community. I wish you every success in this next chapter.
