📍UMKHOSI WOMHLANGA UNDERWAY AT EMACHOBENI ROYAL RESIDENCE

The Annual uMkhosi woMhlanga (Reed Dance) is underway at eMachobeni Royal Residence in eNgwavuma , where thousands of maidens have gathered to take part in this important cultural ceremony.

Princess Tensindiso Zulu, daughter of His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini, was seen leading the maidens in traditional Zulu songs as they prepare to present the reeds to His Majesty the King.

The atmosphere at eMachobeni is filled with song, pride and tradition as the celebrations continue.

Umhlosinga Development Agency (UMDA), Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN) and the Eswatini Investment Production Authority (EIPA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen trade and investment cooperation between KwaZulu-Natal and Eswatini.

The MOU was signed during the Eswatini International Trade Fair in Manzini by Thembisile Khumalo, CEO of UMDA; Innocent Hlongwana, Executive Manager: Investment Promotion at TIKZN, representing TIKZN CEO Sihle Ngcamu; and Sibani Mngomezulu, CEO of EIPA, in the presence of South Africa’s High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Eswatini, Mmaikeletsi Dube.

The agreement establishes a framework for practical collaboration to facilitate investment, expand market access and strengthen cross-border trade between the two markets.

Key areas of collaboration include the promotion of One Stop Shop services through the TIKZN provincial office, Mkhuze Airport and Eswatini’s Business One Stop Shop; the establishment of a Cross-Border Trade Desk; the coordination of an interregional Trade and Investment Forum; and strengthened collaboration on infrastructure and financing.

The collaboration builds on progress already achieved and will strengthen the ability of the three institutions to facilitate investment, expand trade, support businesses and create new avenues for economic growth across KwaZulu-Natal and Eswatini.

For UMDA, the collaboration strengthens efforts to position uMkhanyakude district as a strategic gateway for investment and trade, while deepening economic linkages between KwaZulu-Natal and Eswatini.
